I could barely get through the door, my dress was so big. I’d had the wedding dress for years. I bought it at a thrift store for $7, and it was clear that this was the best future use for it. I dyed it with RIT Rose Pink, two bottles, but one would’ve done it. I tend to go overboard. It didn’t dye entirely evenly, but that didn’t detract from the overall effect. I made the crown myself. All told, the costume cost less than $30.

Not bad, if I do say so myself.

It’s Time for a New Purse!

October 5, 2007

I’ve managed to actually get some work done this week, so before I start drinkin’, I thought I’d show you what I’ve been up to.

 First off:

Please excuse the photo, the bright colors and reds get my camera all dizzy and confused. This is the Gypsy Bag in a Our Lady of Guadalupe print. This one is for the local Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations, but you could order a custom made one for yourself for a mere $65 plus $10 shipping. This particular style is washable, even.

Secondly:

Frida Kahlo on a black background, also the Gypsy Bag, and also reserved for Day of the Dead. Custom orders available, of course, same price/shipping as above. The lining (not pictured) is a Marimekko print from Crate and Barrel.

Third:

Frida again, in ivory. Same as above.

Fourth, with reservations:

Hoochie really wanted her picture taken, so the bag is a bit hard to see. I made this style by special request, and it goes across the body and holds say, a tampon and your phone. Lipstick if you’re that kind of feminist (relax, I am). I’m not entirely sure about this bag design, but the customer who wanted it loved it, so I made this one. The witches are having Halloween rush hour excitement, there. This one is $45 plus $10 shipping.

Last, but not at all least and, actually, quite cute:

Take Out bag, Halloween style. Cute as all hell, in my opinion. Cost is $38 plus $10 shipping.

Today, in honor of “for me” Fridays, I managed to mostly finish a DIY of a vintage dress. I’ll get the photos of that for next week.

Now, there’s some alcohol somewhere that is begging me to drink it……..
